March Wrap-Up/April TBR:

Hello,

March was an extremely busy month but I also had Spring break so I was able to do a lot of reading as well. It’s also been really cold here lately except for a few warm days but I think the warm weather finally came back today.  April looks like it is going to be another busy month for me so I am not sure if I will be able to read as much as I did in March but I am hoping to finish the Pretty little liars series since I am finally on the last book in the series.

Total books read: 14

monthly wrap-up (1)

Twisted (#9)  by Sara Shepard

Ruthless (#10) by Sara Shepard

Stunning (#11)  by Sara Shepard

1

Burned (#12)  by Sara Shepard

Crushed (#13)  by Sara Shepard

Deadly (#14)  by Sara Shepard

I finally got to make some progress with this series over Spring break and it was ok. I think I think I like the first half of the series better but I am hoping to finish this series soon.

2

Betrayed (#2)  by P.C. Cast – I didn’t really like this book that much but it was ok (3 stars).

Chosen (#3)  by P.C. Cast – I definitely did not like this one and probably won’t continue the series. It did help with quite a few challenges that I have been working on though (2 stars).

The secret garden  by Frances Hodgson Burnett – This one used to be one of my favorite books when I was a kid and while I did enjoy reading it again, I didn’t like it quite as much as I used to (4 stars).

3

Where the red fern grows  by Wilson Rawls – The first time I heard this story I was in elementary and I have always wanted to reread it so I decided to pick it up over Spring break and it was pretty good (4 stars).

Rump: The true story of Rumpelstiltskin by Liesl Shurtliff –  I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this one or not, but once I got into it I was really surprised by how much I did enjoy it (4 stars).

The door in the hedge and other stories by Robin McKinley – I had a hard time getting into this one and was actually confused for the first few pages but once I got into it, the story picked up a little bit (3 stars).

Untitled design

Dark flame (#4)  by Alyson Noel – I really liked the first two books of this series but it went a little downhill for me after the third one. I will continue the series but will probably use the audiobook version since this was easier that way (3 stars).

Toxic (#15)  by Sara Shepard –

Overall, this month hasn’t been the best month for good books but I did make progress with a few challenges I have been working on in Goodreads and I am almost finished with a couple of series that I have been looking forward to finishing.

April is going to be an extremely busy month since finals are coming closer but I am hoping to at least make some progress with books I am reading if I don’t finish any. I do have some books that I am still reading and a couple that I want to start but I am going to do a tentative TBR this month instead of doing a definite schedule. I also have some eARCS to get to as well, but I probably won’t be able to get to them in May after my finals are over.

April TBR books I am still reading:

I will probably focus on these this month, though I do have just a few that I want to add.

Untitled design (1)

Tentative April TBR list:

April TBR

I’m hoping to eventually get to these books this month but I am not sure if I will yet. If I don’t start them in April I definitely plan to read them in May.

Top Ten Tuesday: Tuesday, March 20, 2018: Top 10 books on my Spring TBR list:

ttt-big2

Top Ten Tuesday was originally hosted by the Broke and bookish and is now hosted by That artsy reader girl.

This week’s theme is Top Ten books that are on my Spring TBR list.

Hello,

Happy first day of Spring! It has been kind of chilly here so far and rainy but today looks like it is supposed to be in the low 70s and partly cloudy. I have a bunch of books that I want to read this Spring but as I am still in school I probably won’t be able to read most of them until May when I am out of school.

16217670 18599776 20958250 33123849

  1. Deadly (#14)  by Sara Shepard – My goal over the next month or so is to finish the Pretty Little Liars series since my Overdrive account has all 16 books. So far I have been able to make a lot of progress with the series but I am in my last month of the semester so I am not sure how much progress I will be able to make but I am hoping to finish the rest of the series by May at least.
  2. Toxic (#15)  by Sara Shepard – I’m hoping to get to this one in May hopefully.
  3. Vicious (#16)  by Sara Shepard –
  4. Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman – I’ve been reading this one for a while now and haven’t really made any progress with it but I am hoping to read it once the semester ends.

35343333 10345927 29236299

5. I’m not missing by Carrie Fountain – I received an arc of this one through Netgalley and it doesn’t come out until July but I am hoping to start it after I finish the semester hopefully.

6. A million Suns (#2) by Beth Revis – This is another trilogy that I want to finish over the next few months. I actually got this one over spring break last week but wasn’t able to start it so it may be a while before I get to it again.

7. Gemina (#2) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff – This is another one that I have been trying to read since last year and am hoping to read in the next couple of months or so

6307964 35424762 18406862

8. A storm of swords (#3) by George R.R. Martin – I’ve been trying to read this one ever since last summer so I am determined to finish it in the next few months or so.

9. Nyxia Unleashed (#2) by Scott Reintgen – After reading the first book in this series I knew that I had to request the second book in Netgalley when I saw it was available. I am not sure when I will be able to read it yet but I am hoping to pick it up after the semester ends.

10. Sinner (#4) by Maggie Stiefvater – I am hoping to finish this series by the end of the summer hopefully. I did pick it up over Christmas break last year and tried to finish it but I only got a few pages in so I am hoping to make some more progress with it as well.

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at the bookdate. This is where you can talk about what you have read, what you are currently reading, and what you are about to read.

Hello,

Well, I am back in school now after having a week off for spring break. I had a pretty busy week as I did some hiking and I had a doctors appt. last Monday that was okay. I  also helped my grandparents with some yard work as we have a ton of briers and vines around our property, so we were able to make a little bit of progress with that as well. I did make some progress with a series I have been working on finishing and I finished a couple of other books, but I still have some that I thought I could finish over break but didn’t get to yet. My aunt and uncle also had birthdays this past week and we got to hang out with them as well.

This week looks very busy as I already have a ton of research for papers that I have to do and I have a quiz towards the middle of the week. I also apparently have some research that I have to turn in by the end of the week as well. I also have to meet with one of my history professors about my minor and next week we sign up for classes for the fall next week as well. I’m hoping to squeeze in at least a couple of books this week that I have already made some progress with but I am not sure yet.

What I read last week:

Stunning (#11)  by Sara Shepard:

13231787

This one was a fast read for me but it was probably one of my least favorite in the series so far (3 stars).

Burned (#12)  by Sara Shepard:

9893358

This took me a little longer to finish but it was definitely better than the previous novel in this series (3 stars).

The door in the hedge and other stories  by Robin McKinley:

23385350

This one took me a little longer to finish than I thought it would since it was a short book but it was ok. The first half was a little slow but once I got into the other stories in the book it didn’t take me long to finish them (2.5/5 stars).

Crushed (#13)  by Sara Shepard:

16065550

I thought this one was better than the last couple of books in this series. I’m hoping to finish the last few books either in April or May hopefully (3 stars).

Rump: The true story of Rumpelstiltskin  by Liesl Shurtliff:

17906946

This book was definitely better than I thought it would be. I loved most of the characters and loved most of the action in the story. It was a little darker than I thought it would be but I also thought it was pretty funny as well (4 stars).

Currently Reading:

16217670

I’ve just started reading this one and it is ok so far. I have a lot of things that I have to do this week so I am not sure when I will be able to finish it but I am hoping to make some progress with it.

27395139

This one is going a little slow for me but I am hoping to finish it soon.

22752127

I also just started this one and it is really good so far. It will probably be a while before I finish it but so far  I am enjoying it.

Up Next:

So this is what I have planned for this week. I’m not sure if I will finish any more books before the end of the month since I will be extremely busy but I am hoping to make some progress with some of them.

I hope you guys have a great week!

Hello,

The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy but I am now on Spring break and have finished most of my major assignments though I do have some things that are due before I get back to school. The weather has been cold and rainy lately, though today it finally cleared up and is supposed to be sunny for the next few days or so. Last week I did get to finish some books that were ok and I have a large list of books to read this week, along with some anime to watch as well.

What I read last week:

The secret garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

2998

This one took me longer than I thought it would but it was still pretty good (4 stars).

Twisted (#9)  by Sara Shepard:

10259656

I finally decided that I would finish this series this week and so far it is okay. This one wasn’t as good as the first part of the series but it was still interesting (3 stars).

Ruthless (#10)  by Sara Shepard

11827300

I read this one in about a day or two and it was ok (3 stars).

Betrayed (#2)  by P.C. Cast

676924

I read this one in a few days and it wasn’t my favorite book but it was ok (3 stars).

Chosen (#3)  by P.C. Cast

1326258

This one was probably my least favorite book of the year but it did help for a challenge that I had on Goodreads. I probably won’t continue this series after this one though (2 stars).

Stunning (#11)  by P.C. Cast

13231787

This one was my least favorite in the series but it was still ok (3 stars).

Currently reading:

9893358

This one is definitely better than Stunning but it still just ok. I should be finished with it in the next couple of days or so.

27395139

This one seems interesting but I’ve only read a couple of chapters of it so far but I’m not really sure about it yet.

22752127

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book so I decided to give it a try when my overdrive account finally got it. So far it is interesting.

23385350

I don’t really know how I feel about this one but it seems ok so far. It works for a lot of challenges that I have on Goodreads so I should finish it in the next couple of days or so.

February Wrap-up/ March TBR:

Hello,

February was a really good month for me considering I did get a lot of papers at the end of the month that I am still working on but things are going well. I ended up reading a lot of short standalones this month and a few series books that I have started I was also able to start A storm of swords and I think I might have a schedule where I can finish it in a couple of months though I am not sure. I have Spring break in about a week or so and I am hoping to catch up on my thicker books that I haven’t been able to read so my TBR for March will be a little longer than it was before. The weather has also been unusually warm which is good and we even got around 80 degrees a couple of days though it has also been really rainy lately. March looks to be pretty busy so far so I might not b able to read as much as my spring break ends but I should be able to squeeze in a few books here and there.

Total number of books read: 11

  1. The rogue queen (#3)  by Emily R. King – This was better than the first two. I really liked the characters in the story and the fantasy and am interested in seeing what happens in how the story ends in the next book (3.5/5 stars).
  2. Out of my mind by Sharon M. Draper –  I’ve had this one on my shelf for a long time and had the opportunity to get it on my Overdrive account so I went ahead and got it. I really enjoyed it and I am glad that I was able to read it (4/5 stars).
  3. Goodbye stranger  by Rebecca Stead – I thought I would end up enjoying this one but I had a harder time with it then I thought I would even though I only read it in a couple of days or so (3 stars).
  4. Quiet: the power of introverts in a world that can’t stop talking  by Susan Cain – I read this book for a paper in one of my classes where I had to turn off my social media while I read and it ended up being really good. I learned a lot of new information as well. This is one that I would definitely recommend (5 stars).
  5. You were here by Cori McCarthy –  I picked this one up on my overdrive account and while there were times where I had mixed emotions about it, I did end up enjoying it a lot and I can’t wait to read more by this author and would recommend this one (4 stars).
  6. Frostblood (#1)  by Elly Blake –  I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. This is another one that I would recommend (4.5/5 stars).
  7. Wanted (#8) by Sara Shepard – This one was ok. It was a fast read though and it helped with a few challenges on Goodreads as well (3 stars).
  8.  The fourteenth goldfish by Jennifer L. Holm –  I had a harder time with this one than I thought I would but I really enjoyed the ending and loved the characters so it was alright (4 stars).
  9. The thousandth floor  by Katharine McGee – This one was ok. I thought the story was interesting and fast paced but I didn’t really like any of the characters that much except for a couple (3 stars).
  10. Marked (#1)  by P.C. Cast – I read this one back in high school and at the time I thought it was okay but when I read it this time I didn’t really enjoy it as much (3 stars).
  11. Ash Princess (#1)  by Laura  Sebastian. – I have mixed feelings about this one. ON one hand I really loved the book but on the other hand, it was a little predictable. I received this one from NetGalley so I should have a review up when it comes out(4 stars).

March TBR:

SIcnce I have SPring break in about a week and a half I figured I would make my TBR list a little longer than usual though I am not sure if I will be able to go to the library or not.

10365 23385350 32505753 6307964 7198988 33123849 7728889 676924 1326258

So this is what I have planned for March. I’m not sure how many books I will be able to read but with Spring break coming I am hoping to finish up a couple of books for some challenges that I am working on finishing on Goodreads.

2018 Book review #2: The Rogue queen (#3) by Emily R. King:

35051065

Book: The rogue queen

Author: Emily R. King

Series: The hundredth queen #3

Date read: February 3, 2018

Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Pages: 298

Publication date: February 13, 2018

Summary from Goodreads:

“Despite the odds, Kalinda has survived it all: Marriage to a tyrant. Tournaments to the death. The forbidden power to rule fire. The icy touch of a demon.

That same demon now disguises itself as Rajah Tarek, Kalinda’s late husband and a man who has never stopped haunting her. Upon taking control of the palace and the army, the demon brands Kalinda and her companions as traitors to the empire. They flee across the sea, seeking haven in the Southern Isles.

In Lestari, Kalinda’s powers are not condemned, as they are in her land. Now free to use them to protect those she loves, Kalinda soon realizes that the demon has tainted her with a cold poison, rendering her fire uncontrollable. But the lack of control may be just what she needs to send the demon back to the darkest depths of the Void.

To take back the empire, Kalinda will ally with those she distrusts—and risk losing those most loyal to her—to defeat the demon and bring peace to a divided nation.”

I received this from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review.

I definitely liked this one better than the first two. I liked most of the characters and it was pretty action-packed as well. While the other two books started just a little slow for me this one had action right at the beginning and throughout the entire book. There is also a love triangle in this one as well though the book seems to focus less on the romance this time. I really loved learning about the magic and different cities as well. There were a few twists and turns though there were also some scenes that were predictable. I  was pretty surprised by how the story ended though and am interested in seeing what happens in the fourth book when it comes out.

Overall this is one that I would recommend and I am interested in seeing how the story ends in the next book.

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? Monday, February 19, 2018:

it2527s2bmonday25212bwhat2bare2byou2breading

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at the bookdate. This is where you can talk about what you have read, what you are currently reading, and what you are about to read.

This past week has been pretty busy so far as I have had a lot of reading to for classes and I’ve also started my research for my papers though I may still have to go to the library again to get some more sources. This past weekend was really busy as well. I spent the afternoon on Saturday doing some cleaning since it was raining and i was also able to get a little bit of hw done as well. I did manage to finish two books though I had to read one for a paper that I have in one of my classes. The weather this week has been really warm. We had 77 degree weather on Friday though it was really windy. It also looks like it is going to be pretty rainy this week but really warm.

What I read last week:

Quiet: The power of introverts in a world that can’t stop talking by Susan Cain:

8520610

I had to read this one for a paper where I had to turn off my social media while I read it. I wasn’t sure if i would enjoy this one but I really learned a lot about being introverted and while I knew some things there were still some ideas about being introverted that I didn’t know about as well. This is one that I would highly recommend (5 stars).

Frostblood (#1) by Elly Blake:

30246667

This one was also really good and I enjoyed it a lot more than i thought I would. This is one that I would definitely recommend as well (4.5/5 stars).

Currently reading:

19156898

This one is ok so far though I have only read a couple of chapters. I’m not sure when i will finish this one though.

3047851

I started this one last night and it is already pretty good so far. I’m hoping to finish it soon though I am not sure.

93101

I’ve just started listening to this one and it seems interesting so far.

Up Next:

30183

32505753

So this is what i have for this week. I don’t know if i will be able to finish any books as I have some research for 3 papers that I have to work on but I am hoping to make a little bit of progress.

I hope you guys have a great week!
